Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability benefits can provide vital income to help people with disabling conditions pay for their basic needs. But, navigating the process can be challenging and confusing.

From this training, participants will learn:

• what are SSI and Social Security Disability; and who qualifies
• what happens during the application and appeals processes
• how to support clients and others to navigate applications and appeals; and maximize the chance that their applications will be approved.

This training will not focus on the SOAR method. Rather, it designed to give those without experience an overview of the process and while also giving SOAR-trained staff tips on how to strengthen their SOAR applications.
