We Engage
PSLS’ Community Engagement Department consists of 11 Community Resource Specialist (CRS) and two Fair Housing Testing Coordinators (TC). The CE department establishes ongoing relationships with service providers, connects community members to resources and engages with the community by conducting Know Your Right presentations and being present at fairs, schools, churches, food pantries and other local spaces — meeting people where they are.
Outreach & Education
Each CRS conducts presentations on a variety of legal topics surrounding Safety, Housing and Financial Stability. They also run resource tables at events and participate in community initiatives. Through an ongoing presence in communities, Community Resource Specialists earn trust, build relationships, and collaborate on advocacy to address issues that low income communities of Northern and Central Illinois are facing today.

Community Engagement provides presentations for organizations and groups in the 36 counties we serve. We respond to requests from community organizations and groups to speak on a wide range of civil legal issues, depending on staff availability.
