General

I am Interested in General Volunteering

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Prairie State Legal Services! We have volunteer opportunities throughout the year to help with all aspects of our services, including working with our Development team on fundraising efforts, helping with administrative tasks, volunteering at clinics, or assisting on aspects of client cases based on a volunteer’s experience and expertise. Check back to this page for any upcoming opportunities or email volunteer@pslegal.org to discuss potential opportunities.

In addition, if you are an undergraduate or paralegal student, we also have some summer and school year internship opportunities available.

Undergrad & Paralegal Interships

PSLS offices regularly host school year and summer interns. Availability of internships depends on the needs and capacity of each office (Bloomington, Galesburg, Joliet, Kankakee, Ottawa, Peoria, Rockford, Rock Island, Waukegan, West Suburban, and Woodstock) or special project.

What will I do?

Interns perform a variety of duties at Prairie State depending on their experience level and the needs of a particular office or project. Paralegal interns may interview clients, draft pleadings, perform legal research, and assist attorneys in preparing for trial.

Compensation

Prairie State welcomes internship applications from undergraduate or paralegal students who have outside funding or seek school credit, or who simply wish to volunteer their time. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer paid internships to undergraduate and paralegal students.

Contact volunteer@pslegal.org for more information about internship opportunities.
