Pro Bono Celebrations
Throughout the past week, PSLS has joined in pro bono celebrations throughout our service area.
On Friday, Oct. 18, PSLS’ Director of Pro Bono Services, Kim Thielbar, presented our Outstanding Community Pro Bono Honoree award to Michael McElvain at an event in Bloomington co-hosted by PILI and the 11th Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee.

On Monday, Oct. 21, PSLS’ Executive Director, Denise Conklin, presented the PSLS Equal Access Award to Ken Davies on behalf of Heyl Royster at the Peoria Pro Bono reception. PSLS Peoria/Galesburg Managing Attorney, Thomas Dennis, presented the PSLS Joined in Justice award to Julia Mackert. PSLS Pro Bono Coordinator, Laurie Bell, presented the PCBA award at the event.

On Wednesday, Oct. 23, PSLS Pro Bono Coordinators, Wendy Crouch and Lakeshia Sykes, attended the 23rd Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee reception, where PSLS volunteers Rick Turner and Nicole Sartori received awards.

On Thursday, Oct. 24, PSLS’ Director of Pro Bono Services, Kim Thielbar, and PSLS Pro Bono Coordinator, Wendy Crouch, attended the 18th Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee reception. Attorney Jim Ryan was awarded the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Service Award for his work on the pro se guardianship help desk.
