Free Criminal Records Relief Clinic to Kickoff National Pro Bono Week
PSLS is celebrating National Pro Bono Week from Oct. 20-26! To kickoff the celebration, PSLS and the Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) will host a volunteer-driven sealing and expungement clinic. The event is tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bloomington Public Library, 205 E. Olive St.
At the clinic, registered community members will receive free legal assistance to seal or expunge their eligible criminal records. Volunteer attorneys will consult with clients on their available options, prepare the documents to request an expungement or sealing of eligible records, and provide guidance on the process. So far this year, PSLS’ pro bono team has helped more than 140 PSLS clients during sealing and expungement clinics! PSLS is proud to help clients expunge or seal their criminal records to move past their criminal records and get jobs.
Event attendees will have the opportunity to connect with PSLS community partners, including:
- Career Link
- Goodwill (Northstar Digital Literacy)
- Heartland Community College’s Workforce Equity Initiative Program
- McLean County Center for Human Services
- McLean County Reentry Council
Client registration for the Oct. 18 event has closed. To apply for free legal services, community members can call the PSLS Office that serves their county of residence. Find contact information: pslegal.org/our-offices.
