Barr Receives Lincoln Award of Excellence

July 9, 2021

Congratulations to Adrian Barr, Managing Attorney of our Bloomington office, who won the 2020 Lincoln Award of Excellence. The award was presented to Adrian during the McLean County Bar Annual Meeting on June 17, at Epiphany Farms in Downs, Illinois.

The award recognizes a lawyer who goes above and beyond what’s expected by their peers in the profession. Ret. Judge Elizabeth Robb, who co-presented the awards, said the Lincoln Award “honors the very best of our profession.”

Ret. Judge Dave Butler, who presented the award to Adrian, said: “Adrian speaks for those who can’t speak for themselves. And he defends the rights of the poor and the needy.”

“I have the privilege of working with some incredible people at Prairie State Legal Services and in the communities I serve,” Adrian said in receiving this award. “These people inspire me to do as much as I can to improve life for our clients. This award is the greatest honor of my career.”

Adrian, a graduate of the University of Illinois Law School, has dedicated his legal career to representing low-income, elderly and disabled people in central Illinois. During the pandemic he helped establish a program to assist renters facing eviction. He was appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court to the Commission on Access to Justice and serves on the boards of the United Way and The Immigration Project. He also serves on the Pro Bono Committee and the Continuing Legal Education Committees of the bar association.
