2023 Distinguished Pro Bono Advocate

Although all of our volunteers make a valuable impact on our clients’ lives, every year we recognize one volunteer who has truly gone above and beyond to make a difference for PSLS clients. This year’s Distinguished Pro Bono Advocate is Attorney Tim Divis. Tim began volunteering with PSLS in 2020 in our DuPage Elder Law Clinic (DELC). DELC assists senior clients with drafting wills and advanced directives.

DELC is a partnership with Pro Bono Network (PBN), and Tim serves as the volunteer project manager for PBN. In this role, he works alongside PSLS to run our in-person and virtual clinics. Every month, he organizes other PBN volunteers to ensure we have sufficient pro bono attorneys for each clinic, answers questions from other volunteers, and confirms PSLS receives all the documents and paperwork that we need for each case. In addition, Tim regularly takes on PSLS clients through the clinic, providing them valuable advice and counsel.

In 2022, PSLS expanded our pro bono work for seniors and created similar clinics outside of the DuPage area. Tim volunteered to help with those clinics, and as a result, we were able to serve additional clients in McHenry and Peoria counties. Tim is very hands on with every client that comes through our clinics. With Tim's help we are able to assist more of our senior clients with wills, power of attorneys, or transfer on death instruments. Congratulations, Tim!
