SNAP - Nuts and Bolts of Navigating New Requirements
by: Legal Aid Chicago
- Price: FREE
For years, SNAP Work Requirements have not been in effect for nearly all of Illinois. Because of OBBBA, that is changing. DHS had announced that work requirements will start as early as November 2025. See 10/16/25 Policy Memo. We expect work requirements will be implemented in the coming months, and no later than February 2026. That means that those who IDHS believes are not exempt from and not complying with SNAP Work Requirements could lose SNAP eligibility as soon as March 2026, and no later than May 2026.
In this training we will discuss:
- What are SNAP Work Requirements?
- Who is subject to the work requirements?
- What should SNAP recipients do if they cannot meet work requirements?
- How do SNAP recipients prove they are complying with SNAP work requirements?
- What can I do if my SNAP benefits are terminated because of SNAP work requirements?
