Over the past few years, my office has worked to expand access to Crime Victim Compensation for victims and update the Crime Victim Compensation Program to better respond to victims. Additional statutory changes to the program went into effect January 1, 2025, making the program more accessible to applicants and advocates who assist individuals in applying for compensation as well as expanding eligibility both for who can apply and what items individuals can be reimbursed for. Topics to be covered include an overview of the crime victims compensation program and the legislative changes such as the expanded eligibility, updated reporting requirements, and newly created program criteria.
