Starting Anew with Casey
June 23, 2025
Meet Casey, a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in his 30s. Casey earned a living as a CNA until his life went through a difficult period that included for a time substance abuse and arrests. Casey has since turned from those choices and has been on a path of recovery for several years. However, the door to working as a CNA has remained closed because of his criminal record obtained during that time. Casey needed help with a fresh start. In his time of need, Casey turned to PSLS for help to move past his criminal records to work as a CNA again and better provide for his family. PSLS staff worked hard to fully understand Casey’s story, and determine his rights, responsibilities and options relating to sealing and expungement of his past criminal record. PSLS staff then represented Casey in filing his request to seal and expunge his criminal records with the Court. The Judge agreed with PSLS and Casey and granted Casey's request. Today, thanks to the high-quality legal services provided by PSLS staff, Casey is able to work as a CNA again and better provide for his family.
